Personal Fitness Training Business Requires Effective Communication

Being able to have an effective personal fitness training business requires strong communication skills. Your job as a personal fitness trainer is to motivate your client into getting results. Results that are highly specific to your clients wishes, wants, and needs. During a personal training session, you may ask the client to enter the “uncomfortable training zone.” This can be especially challenging for some personal training program participants. The words you use to communicate with them could be the difference between them pushing into the uncomfortable zone, or not.

Your personal fitness training business requires you to generate, and keep personal training clients. That way, when you communicate with them, it will have an impact on your bottom line.

I always believe in positive reinforcement. This technique works the best. 1 on 1 fitness training clients don’t want to be yelled at and belittled for not accomplishing tasks, or eating properly. When they do something “good,” praise the hell out of them. This encourages similar behavoir.

Another important aspect of communication in your fitness training business is listening. Practice listening to the clients 80% of the time, and talking 20%. When you are listening, you are concentrating on their needs, wants, and desires. When you are talking you are not learning much about them. Therefore, I recommend listening most of the session. Try to discover their motivational “hot buttons.” The wants, and whys they are training with you powerful motivators.

These two tips can definitely help the bottom line in your personal fitness training business. All you have to do it apply them. Being a personal trainer who communicates effectively will give you power, and profits.
